We are definitely pricing seniors and those living on fixed incomes out of their homes that they have worked all their lives to achieve.Ī concerned couple in the audience told us about 5 of their 18 neighbors in the last five years have had to sell their homes because they could no longer afford the property taxes. People are starting to understand that using property taxes as the main funding mechanism for public schools is unsustainable. We analyzed the property tax data received from the Geauga’s Auditor’s office and prepared the following schedules comparing, by political sub-division, the property taxes billed for the 1st half of 2008 versus 2017.
